The Order (2024)

Jude Law, as usual, embroiders the role, this time as an aging FBI agent already burned.
Nicholas Hoult plays a role, in general, quite restrained, I imagine wanting to convey the coldness of the character.
The supporting actors are quite credible, although the one played by Tye Sheridan shows a merry-go-round personality.
A very careful photography, predominating cold tones, and a soundtrack that reminded me of “Sicario”.

In fact, I looked up the name of the composer and it turned out to be Jed Kurzel, the director's older brother.
This movie has been singled out as predictable. Hell, sure: if you don't know that story, you only have to look up “Robert Jay Mathews” or “The Order” on Wikipedia or the like to know how it's all going to end.
The subject matter of the film would make for a TV series, but the director has had to condense the events and the relationship between characters into less than two hours.
In that sense, the film works like clockwork: a flawless editing.
The most furious criticisms of this film are not due to cinematic criteria: in the United States the film has angered Republicans, who, heaven knows why, were not amused by the fact that the bad guys are white supremacist neo-Nazi supremacists.
Despite being set several decades ago, no one is unaware of its connection to current events.
And if any clueless person misses the connection, a simple little sign in the end credits is a slap in the face for any pro-Trump.
