Mañana es hoy (2022)

It won't win the heaven of the seventh art, nor will it be on the list of the best films, not even in those endless comedy rankings. It is not a masterpiece, nor does it need to be.
I often reflect on how, when we sit in front of the screen, we tend to be too demanding, something that often happens in the case of Spanish cinema.
Perhaps we are too harsh, too critical, too severe. ‘Mañana es hoy’ would never be an option, not even for a siesta on a Sunday afternoon. However, chance and coincidences made it cross my path, and, despite how crude and absurd it is at first, I decided to finish watching it.
One of those streaming platforms was to blame; it presents itself to you, you read the synopsis, click and prepare to find out just how bad it can be. It's all pure chance, pure chaos.

And, surprisingly, it's not that bad, far from it. It deserves a better rating. In fact, there were several moments where I laughed out loud, something many comedies fail to do.
Especially the character of the son is exceptional. The father, meanwhile, nails it; he's really funny.
I won't say it's perfect, of course, since all time travel raises doubts and there are always some loose ends. But it's no less valid for being Spanish. They make a time travel in a water scooter...
Others did it in a DeLorean or even in a jacuzzi. A matter of taste. I, at times, had a great
time.
The plot, although it may sound cliché, is very interesting. And we have to recognise that the cast is very well selected. Actors such as Javier Gutiérrez, Carmen Machi, Silvia Abril and the always surprising Antonia San Juan provide us with a fun and entertaining time. There are also emotional moments, as well as intrigue and tension.
