Den of Thieves 2: Pantera (2025)

In 2018 was released the crime thriller “Game of Thieves” a tremendous action film that I liked a lot despite being compared to “Heat” by Michael Mann, now comes this sequel that resumes the intense rivalry between the cop Big Nick O'Brian (Gerald Butler) and the robber and thief Donnie Wilson (O,Shea Jackson Jr).
The action moves from Los Angeles to Europe, specifically to Antwerp and Nice for a diamond heist of the most bizarre kind.
A thorough diamond heist is being prepared on the French Riviera, the cunning thief Donnie has teamed up with a mafia gang nicknamed “Panther”, there will appear the policeman Nick who is on his trail by a tip-off, but far from stopping him proposes an alliance and join him for the robbery, as he needs money for his retirement.

Donnie's distrust is evident, since he does not believe that he is a corrupt cop; however, he makes him see that he is willing to do anything to perpetrate this ambitious millionaire robbery.
Christian Gudegast repeats in the direction, opting for a more sophisticated heist film rather than an action film like the first one. He succeeds quite well in creating a thriller with a high level of entertainment.
Gerald Butler, who also produces, repeats the role with the same energy and charisma, on the other hand, O'Shea Jackson Jr. brings the chemistry needed for this story of rivalry taking an unexpected direction.
The licenses that are taken to commit the heist are classic in this type of film and sometimes a little squeaky, but we know that reality always surpasses fiction and have been committed much more incredible and spectacular robberies.
This measured sequel keeps its feet on the ground, and walks firmly in its purpose supported by the undoubted charisma of Gerard Butler.
In practice, a thriller about a (not so) impossible heist in which he fits like a glove. A highly effective, sober and solid thriller with a clear nineties flavor that delivers what it promises, as a film, as a sequel and as “one of Butler's”; so aware of its possibilities and place in the world, it acts as a sort of counterfeit that it is hard to distinguish it from its original.
