Alien: Romulus (2024)

I think it's exaggerated, I mean there are situations that are so forced that everything feels the worst possible and then the best possible. There's no way you can invent so many coincidences in such a short time, I think it's a scripting error.

Also, too much can end up saturating and ruining the suspense and therefore the satisfaction. There are too many fireworks.

Another overkill is the constant winking at other films in the saga. I also think they overdid it because if you notice the copied scene you know how it's going to continue and it takes you out of the film a bit.

The setting, on the other hand, is fantastic and perfectly captures a dark dystopian future where high tech meets decadence.

The oppressive setting is masterfully enhanced by the production design and special effects, which are seamlessly integrated throughout the film without ever losing coherence.

Scenes of great intensity stand out, with precisely measured suspense that holds the viewer's interest from beginning to end.

As for the performances, the actors fail to stand out, and the casting seems misguided, reflecting the current trend in American productions to force certain profiles.

In addition, the quality of the acting performance does not reach an outstanding level, although a great dramatic display is not required in this type of film. It is essential to pay attention to appearance, avoiding an overly polished look, with perfect skin and beard, as in the case of Orlando Bloom playing a crusader leader in ‘Kingdom of Heaven’, to be totally implausible.

Nor does the inclusion of a group of attractive young men fit properly in this context.
