All the excitement that was generated when the cast was announced and all the controversy about whether the stars of this film were together made me a little nervous, as it was like a hint that it could all go very well or very badly, to the film's detriment, very badly.

For those who haven't seen it, the film tells the story of an enemies to lover couple, Beatrice (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glenn Powell) who have an amazing first date but through their own foolishness end up hating each other and are forced to spend time together thanks to fate that makes them coincide in a wedding.

I think one of the worst things about this film is the lack of chemistry of the main characters, because in some cases, not so good films are perceived as good because of what the actors in the starring roles transmit, which in this case did not happen. It is also necessary to mention the script, it has situations that want to be funny but don't end up being so, and narratives that don't support the story at all and end up confusing the viewer.

Also, and this is quite personal, I think they hurt Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten" for a whole generation because the scene in the film where the song comes out, as I mentioned before, doesn't add anything to the plot and to finish listing the negative things, somehow I feel that the role didn't quite fit with Sweeney's acting style, we didn't get to see her talent in all its splendour as she has shown in Euphoria. Something I did like about the film is the setting, the fact that it was made in Australia brings something new and fresh to the typical New York or Los Angeles that we are used to seeing.

In closing, the saddest thing is that director Will Gluck knows how to make decent rom-coms like "Friends with benefits", so this movie wasn't even close to being the new benchmark for romantic comedies. I give it 2/5

Toda la emoción que se generó cuando se anunciaron el elenco y toda la polémica de que si los protagonistas de esta película estaban juntos me generaban un poco de nervios, pues era como un indicio de que todo podía salir muy bien o muy mal, para el detrimento de la película, muy mal.

Para quienes no la han visto, la peli nos narra un “enemies to lovers” de una pareja, Beatrice (Sydney Sweeney) y Ben (Gleen Powell) que tiene una primera cita increíble pero que por tonterías de ambos terminan odiándose y se ven en la tarea de pasar tiempo juntos gracias al destino que los hace coincidir en una boda.

Creo que una de las cosas más malas de esta película es la falta de química de los protagonistas, porque en algunos casos, películas no tan buenas se perciben como buenas por lo que transmiten los actores de los papeles estelares cosa que en este caso no paso. También hay que mencionar el guion, tiene situaciones que quieren ser graciosas pero no terminan siéndolo y narrativas que no apoyan en nada a la historia y terminan confundiendo al espectador.

Asimismo, y esto es bastante personal, creo que nos dañaron “Unwritten” de Natasha Bedingfield a toda una generación porque la escena de la película en donde sale la canción como mencione antes, nada aporta a la trama y para acabar de enumerar las cosas negativas, de alguna manera siento que el papel como que no terminaba de cuadrar con el estilo de actuar de Sweeney, no pudimos ver en todo esplendor su talento como lo ha mostrado en Euphoria. Algo que si me gustó de la peli es la ambientación, el hecho de que sea realizada en Australia aporta algo nuevo y fresco al típico New York o Los Angeles que estamos acostumbrados a ver.

Para cerrar, quiero decir que lo más triste del asunto es que, el director Will Gluck, sabe hacer rom-coms decentes como “Friends with benefits”, asi que esta peli no estuvo ni de cerca para ser la nueva referencia para las comedias románticas. Le doy 2/5
