Indie Films on HiveCast

Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb and User Reviews

I no longer trust what they tell us about who's Hot and who's Not. Web2 platforms like Netflix, Prime Video and Hulu wall their subscribers into their garden and even use skewed data as to which films are historically the most popular, highest grossing, and currently Trending. It's kind of like an echo chamber on steroids. What they say is what goes.

With Hive, Viewer and Financial data cannot be faked.

Profits over Viewer's Freedoms

The Netflix subscription model lacks accountability and transparency. Binge-watching exploits your attention and this cuts out the Indies and smaller Creators. I also suspect that Netflix is not profitable and receives subsidies to cover the costs of hosting. Imagine how fat (and expensive) the internet connection is which serves thousands of movies to millions of viewers all at the same time... ouch.

Transparency 👀

With Hive, actual unique Views, Creator tips received, Upvotes received and user interaction through Chat and Comments cannot be faked. With transparency, this REAL data gives Viewers, Critics and the Ratings absolutely accurate information. Who's ACTUALLY Trending and who's not. Hive data is perfect for acquiring this info.

True Viewer's Community

The beauty of the CineTV Community and Hive based commenting is that it gives the reader a real understanding of the Media presented. Ideally, those comments, tips, upvotes and user interactions should be connected to the actual Media I.D. and the stream itself, even if it's a movie that's being aired live.

P2P, Syndicated, Streaming Media

Not that there's anything wrong with watching Netflix, but I foresee a future where I can watch whatever I want from a single, simple UI from multiple streaming platforms.

  • Imagine if the Youtube app would let you watch media from Netflix, or vice versa.
  • Imagine Netflix streaming Indie movies from Hive-Tube hosts and RSS feeds.

Not gonna happen. They must keep you walled in so that they can get your subscription payments, push their programming, collect your data and sell it.

Syndication is everything. P2P streams (seeders & leechers) help with this too. The UX. Streaming to multiple networks like Hive Communities and the Fediverse, as well as Open RSS feeds gets media to everyone, everywhere. No more walled gardens.

A Smarter Way Forward 💡

We need your support. You may have heard about all the streaming platforms popping up that are powered by Hive-Tube. Now a front-end for all of these sites is needed, so we're finishing up an app for TV, PC and Mobile called HiveCast. Think of the HiveCast app like a "tuner" which enables viewers to now watch anything they want from ANY streaming platform. No longer will you have to pay a walled garden for the shows you like to watch.

RSS is coming back in a HUGE way!

Watch movies up on your big screen TV and chat with others who are watching it too. Leave a tip for the Creator. Upvote a fellow Viewer's comment. Share that movie in real-time on your Hive blog. Get a ping when your favorite Creator is about to go live. RSS levels the playing field again and with HiveCast we can remove the barriers and open the door for the Indie's again! Hive gave us the freedom, we just need to build it out. Please check out the HiveCast DHF Proposal below.. Let's FOSS it and Launch it!

Ken - as always, I appreciate what you are building with HiveCast more than I can put into words. I have long despised the Walled Gardens that you spoke of; I never used Spotify to begin with, but have heard horror stories from musicians getting pennies for streams while the record labels make off with the profits!

And YouTube - enough said, no one actually likes the platform - it went downhill so long ago that people have forgotten that its "Suggested" algorithm used to actually help people discover content they liked, and not just push whatever political agenda and special interest pays Google the most ad money -_-

Thanx man :)
Yep, totally. When they're beholden to advertisers, they are pressured to charge more, censor, shadow-ban and worse. Web2 imo was our stepping stone to freedom, now we have Hive and web3 distributed systems to break the chains.

Yeah, I definitely long for the good ole days before Google bought YouTube and ruined it all haha!
