"The Mandalorian" by Dave Feloni (Season 1 - Episode 1): The Birth of a Hero

Greetings!

If you are a fan of Star Wars you surely are very familiar with "Mandalorian". Mandalorians are people bound by creed and are mostly known as "Bounty Hunters" but not all are bounty hunters. Mandalorians came from the planet Mandalore. The first Mandalorian to appear in a Star Wars movie is Boba Fett in "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back"

From then on "Mandalorians" are a fan favorite to fans of Star Wars because of their fighting skills and can stand toe-to-toe versus a Jedi if they wore their famed "Beskar" armor. Beskar is the only known metal in the Star Wars universe that can stop a blow from a Lightsaber or a blaster.

As for me, I was also enamored with Mandalorian's appearance the first time that I saw them in a Star Wars movie. But because a Mandalorian played as an antagonist in the first movie I actually do not like them. But I do like their appearance and fighting skills.

At first, I thought I was not going to like "The Mandalorian" because of their reputation in the Star Wars canon

The narrative of episode 1 of "The Mandalorian" is about the very "Star Wars themed" of the effective portrayal of a Mandalorian as a protagonist. It also effectively showed the audience that not all Mandalorians are evil in nature that most Mandalorians are good and peace-loving people and that not all Mandalorians are bounty hunters.

In the beginning, I like that the series showed some of the characters that we are going to encounter in the series later on. What I don't expect is the use of the sound of the tracking pod used by the Mandalorian. The first scene of the Mandalorian shows him holding a tracking pod on his way to his target.

I also like the background music when the Mandalorian enters a bar as he is looking for this target. The background music is unique and perfectly fits the scene.

I also like that the Beskar alloy immediately appeared in the series as a form of bounty (downpayment) for the task that Mando was given by an individual still loyal to the empire. Beskar is legendary because of its reputation as the only metal/alloy that can withstand a blow from a lightsaber and blaster.

I also like to add that I like the voice of Mando. It is very unique and perfectly fits the fact that he is wearing a helmet.

Just a few minutes to the episode I am immediately hooked to the series because it is brilliantly made. All of the things we expect in a Star Wars-themed movie or series can be seen in this series.

Another thing that I like about this series is the quick appearance of a Forge and The Armorer. The Forge is one of the most notable elements of being a Mandalorian as their armor was made on the forge. The Armorer is also an indispensable part of the Mandalorian as the one that is crafting armor and weapons for his/her fellow Mandalorians.

This episode is very action-packed near the end of the episode as the Mandalorian and a droid co-guild member are slugging it out to get to their target which is revealed to be an entity from the rise of Master Yoda.

The action sequence of the episode is very well made very much like any Star Wars battle scene. In the final battle scene, the skills of the Mandalorian are shown and it is very apparent what a Beskar alloy can do to its wearer.

I also like the type of droid used as the "Bounty Droid" and I have to admit that it is the very first time that I have seen such a droid. Needless to say, the appearance of the bounty droid is very impressive and perfectly captures what a bounty droid would look like in the Star Wars canon.

All in all the first episode of the series started with a band and ended with a bang. The script is excellent as well as the filmmaking. I like it that they made the armor of the Mandalorian look old insinuating that it will be upgraded in the coming episode. The first episode is very fast-paced as it introduces a lot of characters including the Mandalorian's co-protagonists which he rescued with the help of a bounty droid.

The first episode perfectly captures the theme of Star Wars from the costumes to the characters, to the props, and the script. I am also surprised that the episode immediately introduced the co-protagonist of the Mandalorian.

The introduction of the co-protagonists makes me very very excited to watch the next episode because there are a lot of questions in my head. Like why Baby Yoda ended up in captivity. What is the purpose of the man who hired the Mandalorian to retrieve Baby Yoda? What will be the role of Baby Yoda? Is he going to be a Jedi? Is he even a force-sensitive individual? Is he related to Master Yoda? Is he going to end up on the side of the Mandalorian until the end of the series?

Another question that is going on in my mind is if the Mandalorian is going to be fighting the empire. Is he going to lead a renaissance where all of the scattered Mandalorians will again unite to take their home world of Mandalore?

Surely this episode gave us a lot of questions which is good going forward in watching the series until the last episode.

I you like Star Wars then "The Mandalorian" is a must-watch. This series will make you think of the other sides of the Mandalorians and that they are not just some kind of Bounty Hunters they also stand for something most notably their creed of being a "Mandalorian".

Would you believe me if I told you that I have never seen anything about the Star Wars world? But if I've read how good "The Mandalorian" is, I'm sure I'll be encouraged at some point to enter this world.

You should see them, Star Wars is one of the best film franchises ever. "The Mandalorian" is part of the Star Wars canon, as well as "Ahsoka" and the animated "Star Wars: Rebels".
