"Halo" (Season 2, Episode 4) by Craig Zisk - Death of a Spartan

Greetings!

The previous episode (episode three) ended with the start of Covenant's attack on Reach. Episode three finally answers the fate of the whole Spartans team, the Cobalt Team which Master Chief tried to rescue Visegrad. Also, episode three is the start of the redemption of Master Chief (because he was being portrayed by Ackerson as delusional).

Episode four is all about the attack on Reach. In this episode, we finally see how the Master Chief fights with no armor. Episode four finally answered the lingering questions of the previous episodes, the Covenant is already on Reach and it is only a matter of time before they are going to attack. Of course, episode four gave us the saddest episode of the whole series, the death of a Spartan.

Halsey and Cortana met again

As the Covenant began their attack on Reach other important events were also happening elsewhere, Dr. Catherine Halsey met with Soren after a long time. Cortana and Dr. Catherine Halsey met again for the first time since season one.

To be honest, I thought Dr. Catherine was going to do something special after finding Cortana as one of the prisoners. But then their meeting was cut short when Makee took the device that contained Cortana. After Makee took Cortana I was very concerned about what she was going to do with Cortana.

Suits are gone

One of the things that I am eager to see during the attack on Reach is the whole Silver Team going to suit up and put up a fight from the invading Covenant forces. But, Vannak told the Master Chief that the suits were all gone. Also, the Master Chief believed that Kai had gone hunting so he said that they must do the same.

Seeing the Silver Team without their suits actually worries me a lot because without their suits they will be at a huge disadvantage against the invading Covenant force. But, even without their armor, the Master Chief, Vannak, and Riz put up and good fight, which speaks for their abilities even without their armor.

Today he needs no armor

Before their last stand for Reach. Admiral Keyes took the initiative to introduce the Master Chief to the UNSC Marines that are making their last stand. Admiral Keyes introduced the Master Chief to rally the troops left to defend in order for more civilians to escape. Although he frankly told them that they would not last the day defending their morals seems to be boosted by the thought that they are fighting alongside Master Chief.

Seeing Master Chief without his armor is a sight to behold but he is still at a huge disadvantage without his armor.

Jacob and Catherine

Even if this episode is all about the ongoing attack on Reach it doesn't lack important events like the meeting of Jacob and Catherine season season 1. Not only that, Jacob, Catherine, and Soren have their scenes together.

It is also good to see Soren strutting his Spartan skills but he could have done a more spectacular scene alongside the Master Chief.

Jacob's death

I thought I was only going to see battles between the Covenant and the UNSC soldiers together with the Silver Team. But then I was surprised that I was going to see some life being sacrificed. It is not just a life, but a very important one in Admiral Keyes. The Master Chief reiterated that it is impervious that he (Admiral Keyes) lives because the UNSC needs good people like him. But then, he ended up sacrificing his life so that civilians could live.

A Spartan's death

The saddest moment of this episode is the death of Spartan Vannak. When this episode started I thought I was not going to see deaths but then I was wrong. First, is the death of Admiral Keyes, and then the death of Spartan Vannak. To be honest, it kind of makes me sad to see a beloved Spartan die. Although this could happen anytime his death could only mean that the Master Chief will be going to missions all by himself just like in the game.

Conclusion

Season 2 Episode is by far the saddest of the series because of the death of important characters, the death of Admiral Keyes, and the death of Spartan Vannak. Although this episode (episode 4) did not show full-scale battle scenes I think it successfully portrays the magnitude of the battle itself when it was shown part of the city burning.

This episode also makes me think about the absence of Kai. But since Kai is now being brainwashed by Ackerson I can only assume that Kai has already fled the planet together with Ackerson.

I am actually thinking why this episode was not able to showcase the full force of the UNSC in defending Reach. But then I realized what Vannak said, that Ackerson left ahead of the invasion together with some personnel and also took their armor with him, thus leaving them behind to fight without their armor.

Since Vannak is already dead I am beginning to think what will happen next to the rest of the Silver Team. Of course, Master Chief is going to be alive my concern is how the fate of Riz and Kai will be decided in the coming episodes.

Also, this episode is one of the most important when it comes to the culmination of Master Chief's venturing to missions alone.

That is all for now guys, catch you up with the next one. Wishing you all safety, good health, and abundance.

This series looks familiar, I think I've seen some advertising or something, because it's familiar. I haven't seen it but I might like it, it looks good. Thanks for sharing your review.

Cheers.

I bet you have seen this from a game. It was a game first and is very popular. Then they decided to make a series of it. The series is amazing. I am sure you are going to like it.

I really thought this was only a game but there's series too. Seems like there are some series I need to check and catch up on.

Yes, there's a game and now the series (which is now in season 2). I think you are going to love this one as much as those fans who love the Master Chief. Thank you for dropping by.
