"Back to the Future" by Robert Zemeckis: Travel Back in Time
(Edited)
Greetings!
There are lots of time travel movies out there but only one of them made a mark on me when I was a kid, it is Back to the Future. Back to the Future is a classic and sets the bar on time travel when it comes to story originality and cinematography. Back to the Future also sets the bar on how time travel movies should be made.
The narrative of Back to the Future is about the futuristic, historical, and time-traveling endeavor of Marty McFly back into the past with lots of messing up with the future events and space-time continuum in between.
I like the beginning scene that uses clocks suggesting that I am watching a movie about time travel. I also like the background music used while Marty McFly is riding his skateboard on his way to school. The piece played by the band of Marty McFly for the Battle of the Band audition is good but it is deemed too loud by the judges. By the way, it was also cool to see the signage of Burger King and Toys "R" Us in the photo below. You can also find what Pepsi looked like in the 1980s (the can and the bottle).
The scene when the DeLorean car first made it scene was one of the coolest scenes of Back to the Future. The first time I watched this movie the car looked futuristic and up until now it still looks futuristic.
The special effects on the DeLorean when it started to time travel are still amazing to this day, it is indeed ahead of its time when it was made in 1985.
I like the sense of urgency in Doc's actions or should I say he is always excited with each second passing by because he just invented a time machine. As for Marty, it is understandable that he looks a bit confused.
When Doc opens the case with plutonium he is covered in a suit but then when he opens it again to return the glass that houses the plutonium his head suit is removed, and then he puts his head suit on top of the case that houses the plutonium, which I think doesn't make sense.
It made me smile when Marty got to meet his mom in the year 1955 and he is so shocked that he is staring at his mother and his mother visibly like him. And there is no doubt that he is her son.
I noticed that this movie seems to be promoting Pepsi because a lot of the scene in the movie involves Pepsi. Also, the look in the eyes of Marty McFly when he accidentally ran into his father at a cafe also shocked him.
If I were in the position of Marty McFly I would also be shocked but I will be so happy to see my parents.
The script of Back to the Future does not get dull as it still keeps on surprising me from the first time I watched it in the 1980s. It is indeed a classic and every time-travel movie can take inspiration from it as a reference in making a time-travel movie.
Aside from surprising me it also keeps guessing me because there are a lot of twists in the movie especially when Marty is trying hard all he can to make his parents fall in love with each other and he does. Another surprise in the movie is when he plays a guitar which makes his parents kiss for the first time.
Probably one of the most exciting scenes in the movie is when Lorraine tries to make her move with Marty which of course Marty is trying all he can to avoid. He is also surprised that his mother drinks and smokes cigarettes. And the inevitable comes when Lorraine kisses Marty but she suddenly feels something weird that she is kissing her brother.
The scene of how Marty's mother finally got into each other is brilliant. I watched this movie multiple times but this is the only time that I got to appreciate in originality and the twists of the movie.
All in all this movie is great and is already a classic. It is ahead of its time. The script and the filmmaking are brilliant with a few exceptions of course. It is not perfect but it is a very good movie to watch as it still stands the test of time until now.
If you are looking for an old movie that is classic and still very much groovy to this day then Back to the Future is the movie for you. I am sure you are going to like this movie. It has a great script, it is great in terms of how it is made. It never gets dull until the end of time.
It also has and very interesting ending scene which I am not going to spoil and that's for you to find out. How the first scene of the movie relates to the later scene of the movie is brilliant. This is one of the movies that has a very cohesive storyline which makes you impressed. All scenes are directly related to each other there are not many scene that doesn't make sense which is good because it is indeed a great classic that you can watch and marvel at in its brilliance even though it was released in 1985 which is exactly 38 years this year (2023).
By the way, if I am not mistaken, and I just want to add I first watched this movie on a black and white television and then watched it multiple times on colored television and then on cable TV (also multiple times).
Note: All images in this blog were screenshots from the movie itself.
That is all for now guys, catch you up with the next one. Wishing you all safety, good health, and abundance.

One of my favorite movies since I was a kid, the characters, the plot, the special effects, everything about it is fascinating. I hope it never gets remade because it is perfect as it is.
I agree. If ever it gets remade it better surpass the original, if not, it would be a disgrace.
Exactly!
Wow this movie is without a doubt one of those that will never go out of style! it makes me nostalgic to watch it and I never get tired of it, it's as if I never knew the story.
Great review!
Indeed, it is still significant today. Thank you for dropping by.
