"2012" by Roland Emmerich: One of the Best Film about Human Survival

I am always fascinated with human extinction or doomsday movies because of the thrill that they bring to me whenever I am watching them. One of the good movies about human extinction is the film 2012. Released in 2009 it is one of the most successful extinction movies of the 21st Century.
The narrative of the film 2012 is about the catastrophic and chaotic experience of a group of people in their fight for survival from the upcoming global disaster caused by the destabilization of Earth's crust causing earthquakes that trigger gigantic tsunamis in most parts of the globe.
Intense opening background music
I like the beginning of the film where an intense opening background music is being played and from then on the intensity of each scene has been very high which carried me away.
Neutrino
Using Neutrino as the culprit in heating the Earth's core is a great idea as it can come from the Sun through Solar Flares or Solar Storms. Technically, Neutrino cannot have any effect when it comes to contact in any type of matter but the movie used the idea of a mutated Neutrino as the culprit of heating the Earth's core.
Why G8 Summit?
I noticed that in the film the President of the United States of America chose to relay the information on what is to come, the catastrophe that is about to happen as a result of the heating up of the Earth's core. I thought, why G8? Isn't it more sensible to relay the information to the United Nations (UN)?
Why Tibet?
The film chose Tibet to build the Arks probably because it is one of the highest places in the world that will have a high chance of surviving a huge tsunami.
First sign of what is to come
Then there's the first sign of what will come next. In a part of California, a fissure on a road suddenly appears making people who see it very curious.
Cliffhanger begins
Shortly after the fissure appeared, the nail-biting scene ensued. The scenes were so intense that they kept me on the edge of my seat. I think this is the first time that I have seen such an intense scene where the protagonists of the film are not fighting antagonists but trying to run away from a catastrophe that is currently happening, the movement of Earth's crust.
Politics and Ethics
Like any other film of any genre, politics is always present, even within our family politics is very present. In this film, the writer has pushed the limits of human politics and fitting it against human ethics. This kind of film makes us learn about how politics can cause and how ethics can cancel the bad side of politics. If you are into movies with politics and ethics this film is for you as it gives a good example of politics and ethics.
Money still speaks
But of course, in any facade of life, money still has the power to move things. This film perfectly shows that even on the brink of human extinction money can still play a big role in what decisions are to be made and who will survive.
Unimaginable catastrophe
This film has captured my wild imagination and makes me think that it could happen because for example the state of California is known to be located above the major Earth fracture called the San Andreas fault, not only that, California is also located above the Pacific Ring of Fire. If the "big one" struck California it could cause the whole state of California to be sucked into the Pacific Ocean. If it happens, no structure in California will survive.
Heroics
And just like any other disaster film, there is always that individual that makes a very noble decision. In this film, the President of the United States of America decided not to save himself instead he opted to stay and be with the people that he served until the end. The heroism in this film is very convincing, the acting and the script make it very real. This film has one of the most realistic heroes in recent history. Also, this film made me think if the heroics of an individual can also be done in real life. Of course, I do not want us to arrive in this kind of situation I don't.
Conclusion
All in all, this film is good. The intensity of each scene after the first fissure is shown is so intense that it puts you at the edge of your feet. The CGI is all very realistic except for the building on top of mountain in Mount Everest when it was struck by the tsunami.
If you are looking for a disaster or extinction movie this film, 2012, is worth a watch. Much of the special effects are CGI but a very good CGI if you ask me.
The script of this movie and the edition are also good. It is a very entertaining and intense movie thanks to its good CGI.
This film also pushes the boundary of human politics. The politics of this film is quite disturbing but also very educational. While this film pushes the boundary of politics it is also tantamount to clash with human ethics. This film also shows a lot of human ethics and it did not disappoint. This film showed that human ethics have the capability the neutralize some of the bad side of politics. With that being said, not only that this film very intense, but it is also educational and has a heart as shown in the later part of the movie when leaders from different countries elected to save human lives.

This is a great movie for all that happens. I just didn't really like the protagonists. I like doomsday and apocalypse movies too. You might also like 'Don't Look Up' if you haven't already seen it.

The graphics was really impressive, and it's easy to see why it's one of a kind. I hope to see another movie like this.

I think one of the things that made me like this movie was because of all the spectacle that was generated around it saying that 2012 was going to be the end of the world hahahahahahahahahaha, I remember telling one of my cousins about this and they had never heard of this movie, what good memories.

I watched this film a few years ago. Time flies! I did it because John Cusack was there, haha. I'm a fan, I guess. I never noticed that the director was Emmerich till now that you mention it; he's not my favorite director, but his work is super entertaining--right now I remember Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow. The guy likes disasters! 😂 Disaster is always entertaining when it happens on screen and we watch it from the couch, of course.
