A few days ago I decided to choose something to watch on Netflix, not that I don't do it often, but being at work and with so much to do at home I opted to re-watch something already seen so I wouldn't miss anything if in the end fatigue overpowered me and I fell asleep, but knowing that I was already on vacation I chose to watch this past Friday an animated series that had a few days calling my attention.

Blood of Zeus

It is important to note that as expected this series is based on Greek mythology that is usually so attractive and although it is animated, it is not for children, its content raises in the 8 chapters of its first season, some situations or scenes that include a lot of violence where we can see beheadings, dismemberments, blood and brutality without any censorship, in short this series clearly shows us that it is aimed at adult audiences.

The plot focuses on how after many moments lived and struggles, to overcome enemies together, over time, the constant infidelities of Zeus, have deeply hurt his wife, the goddess Hera, who thanks to her powers can see him in his affairs with other women, this causes her to want to kill the mother of one of his sons whose name in the series is Heron, also reaching the point of inciting a division in Olympus.

In the middle of all this plot, we see how a wounded woman, even being a goddess, can get to the point of wanting to destroy the man she loves and everything around her, without caring about anything or anyone, something that from my point of view is a bit sexist, but it is not far from reality, as many women go to such extremes to feel betrayed and mocked. Besides, let's remember that according to Greek mythology, Hera is a goddess known for being vengeful, violent and jealous, who used to go against Zeus' lovers and offspring, which is what they take in this animation to justify her attitude and role as the villain.

Now, in the midst of all this there are characters that are involved, such as Heron's mother, Electra, who was a queen and managed to conceive a pregnancy of two different fathers, her husband, the King and Zeus, which ended not well for herself and her eldest son, who is seen that for all that he lived became a being full of resentment, which Hera used to use him.

Here we can see, in addition to the plot centered or motivated by jealousy, how the giants and demons originated, the appearance of some interesting and attractive characters, places and objects of Greek mythology, as well as how some of these characters are used or moved to achieve purposes that then trigger an epic battle. Also, as expected, there are other gods of which only some are taken into account for the plot, in short, there are secondary characters that are so blurred, which does not allow us to know with certainty which gods of Olympus are exactly.

On the other hand, as for the dialogues the series in its first season, does not have much quality, the truth is quite repetitive and unexciting in some cases and at the beginning it costs a little to understand, what the heck is happening, the animation is very good in some aspects, but I would not give it more than a 7, but somehow the series manages to keep the interest, as we want to know what will be the outcome of the first season, the soundtrack if I found it very successful and if I would give it an 8.

In summary, this animated series is for adults and for those who have the stomach, because although the animation is not the best it shows crude things and a lot of violence, it does leave an ending that leaves us wanting a second season, since we want to know what will happen with some of the surviving characters and with some that in theory are no longer there or died and what new rivalries or alliances could bring this second season.

Hace unos días decidí elegir algo para ver en Netflix, no es que no lo haga con frecuencia, pero al estar laborando y con tanto que hacer en casa optaba por volver a ver algo ya visto para no perderme de nada si al final el cansancio me dominaba y me dormía, pero sabiendo que ya estaba de vacaciones elegí ver este viernes pasado una serie animada que tenía algunos días llamando mi atención.

Es importante señalar que como es de suponerse esta serie esta basaba en la mitología Griega que habitualmente resulta tan atractiva y aunque es animada, no es para público infantil, su contenido plantea en los 8 capítulos de su primera temporada, algunas situaciones o escenas que incluyen bastante violencia donde podemos ver decapitaciones, desmembramientos, sangre y brutalidad sin ningún tipo de censura, en pocas palabras esta serie nos muestra claramente que va dirigida al público adulto.

La trama se centra en como luego de muchos momentos vividos y luchas, para vencer enemigos juntos, con el paso del tiempo, las constantes infidelidades de Zeus, han herido profundamente a su esposa, la diosa Hera, quien gracias a sus poderes puede verlo, en sus andanzas con otras mujeres, esto origina que ella llegue a querer matar a la madre de uno de sus hijos cuyo nombre en la serie es Herón, llegando también al punto de incitar una división en el Olimpo.

En medio de toda esta trama, se ve como una mujer herida, aun siendo una diosa, puede llegar al querer destruir al hombre que ama y todo lo que le rodea, sin importarle nada ni nadie, algo que desde mi punto de vista es un poco sexista, pero no está alejado de la realidad, pues muchas mujeres llegan a esos extremos al sentirse traicionadas y burladas. Además, recordemos que de acuerdo a la mitología griega, Hera es una diosa reconocida por ser vengativa, violenta y celosa, la cual solía ir en contra de las amantes y la descendencia de Zeus, lo que toman en esta animación para justificar su actitud y rol como la villana.

Ahora bien, en medio de todo esto hay personajes que se ven involucrados, como la madre de Herón, Electra, quien era una reina y logro concebir un embrazo de dos padres diferentes, su esposo, el Rey y de Zeus, lo que termino nada bien para ella misma y su hijo mayor, quien se ve que por todo lo vivido se convirtió en un ser lleno de rencor, de lo cual se valió Hera para usarlo.

Aquí podemos ver, además de la trama centrada o motivada por celos, el cómo se originaron los gigantes, los demonios, la aparición de algunos personajes, lugares y objetos, interesantes y atractivos de la mitología griega, además de como algunos de estos personajes son usados o movidos para lograr propósitos que luego desencadenan una batalla épica. También como es de esperarse, aparecen otros dioses de los cuales solo algunos son tomados en cuenta para la trama, en pocas palabras hay personajes secundarios que quedan tan desdibujados, lo cual no nos permite conocer con certeza que dioses del olimpo son exactamente.

Por otra parte, en cuanto a los diálogos la serie en su primera temporada, no tiene mucha calidad, la verdad son bastante repetitivos y poco emocionantes en algunos casos y al comienzo cuesta un poco entender, qué rayos está pasando, la animación es muy buena en algunos aspectos, pero yo no le daría más de un 7, pero de alguna manera la serie logra mantener el interés, ya que deseamos saber cuál será el desenlace de la primera temporada, la banda sonora si me pareció muy acertada y si le daría un 8.

En resumen, esta serie animada es para adultos y para los que tengan estómago, porque aunque la animación no es la mejor muestra cosas crudas y mucha violencia, eso si deja un final que nos deja con ganas de una segunda temporada, ya que queremos saber qué ocurrirá con algunos de los personajes sobrevivientes y con algunos que en teoría ya no están o murieron y qué nuevas rivalidades o alianzas podría traer esta segunda temporada.
