It is interesting to see how an actor can play different roles than the ones they are usually given or in which they are usually typecast, when we mention certain actors we only imagine them in the roles that made them famous, so seeing them playing totally different roles can be something that impresses us, but it could also show us their quality as an actor.

Days ago I saw, thanks to my husband, a movie starring Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder, obviously when I read the title and saw this pair of actors I didn't know what to think or expect, especially for Keanu who I am so used to see as John Wick or Neo, without forgetting his performances in Point Break or Constantine.

This movie introduces us to a couple of unbearable adults, who attend a wedding, in Lindsay's case, she is the ex-girlfriend of the man who is getting married and sadly it seems she has not forgotten him and goes according to her to close a chapter of her life, at the airport she coincides with Frank, at first they seem to hate each other and even argue, but then they realize that they are the pair of problematic guests with whom they do not know what to do.

Both are unpleasant, they notice that for some reason they have been placed together to share all the activities, after many arguments, because they always want to have the last word, they seem water and oil, they realize that even being so irritating to each other, they are attracted to each other.

Now, the interesting thing about this movie is that first, although there are a lot of actors, the only ones you will see having dialogues are the main characters, being a couple of perfectionists and hating the world so to speak, they seem to hate everyone, they criticize the party, the bride and groom, the other guests and they attack each other, which brings us to the other interesting point of this film, if you analyze the dialogues, that is to say if you pay real attention to them, there is a lot of depth in them, bordering on the philosophical, they are long dialogues, with black humor in which both protagonists seem to be experts, reaching the point of irritating because it seems that they will never shut up.

For all of the above, this film is not from my perception suitable for all audiences, because you have to think, analyze the dialogues and how two adults who seem talented and successful, can be so bitter and lonely, which at the same time makes us reflect on whether we have not gone through or are living something similar.

Thus, this film makes us reflect and analyze why the protagonists can become very irritating and at the same time reasonable, it makes evident how foolishness or stubbornness can isolate us or prevent us from giving in a little to achieve some things, since we can not refuse to give our arm to twist even with the simplest things.

In closing, we could say that this film seems more like a play, since as I mentioned there are only dialogues between these the main characters, it is important to note that the critics are or were a little divided about this film, but I think it is because not everyone is made or prepared for what we can read or interpret from these dialogues, plus as I mentioned if you have a little critical and analytical mind, it makes us reflect a little to ourselves.

Es interesante ver como un actor puede interpretar papeles diferentes a los que usualmente les dan o en los que suelen encasillarlos, al mencionar ciertos actores solo los imaginamos en los papeles que los hicieron famosos, así que verlos interpretando roles totalmente diferentes puede ser algo que nos impresione, pero también podría demostrarnos su calidad como actor.

Hace días vi, gracias a mi esposo, una película protagonizada por Keanu Reeves y Winona Ryder, obviamente al leer el título y ver a este par de actores no sabía que pensar o esperar, sobre todo por Keanu que estoy tan acostumbrada a ver como John Wick o Neo, sin olvidar sus actuaciones en Punto de Quiebre o Constantine.

Esta película nos presenta un par de adultos insoportables, que asisten a una boda, en el caso de Lindsay, es la exnovia del hombre que se casara y tristemente parece que no lo ha olvidado y va según ella va a cerrar un capítulo de su vida, en el aeropuerto coincide con Frank, al principio parecen odiarse y hasta discuten, pero luego se dan cuanta de que son el par de invitados problemáticos con los que no saben qué hacer.

Ambos son antipáticos, van notando que por alguna razón los han colocado a ambos juntos para que compartan todas las actividades, luego de muchos discutir, pues siempre quieren tener la última palabra, parecen agua y aceite, se dan cuenta de que aun siendo tan irritantes el uno para el otro, se atraen.

Ahora bien, lo interesante de esta película radica en que primero, aunque hay un motón de actores, a los únicos que verás tener diálogos es a los protagonistas, al ser un par de perfeccionistas y odiar al mundo por así decirlo, parecen detestar a todos, critican la fiesta, a los novios, a los otros invitados y se atacan ente si, lo que nos lleva al otro punto interesante de esta película, si se analizan los diálogos, es decir se les presta verdadera atención, hay mucha profundidad en los mismos, rayando en lo filosófico, son diálogos largos, con humor negro en que ambos protagonistas parecen expertos, llegando al punto de que irritan porque parece que no fueran a callar nunca.

Por todo lo anterior, esta película no es desde mi percepción apta para todo público, pues obligatoriamente tienes que pensar, analizar los diálogos y en como dos adultos que parecen talentosos y exitosos, pueden estar tan amargados y solos, lo que al mismo tiempo nos hace reflexionar en sí no hemos pasado o estamos viviendo algo similar.

Así, esta película nos hace reflexionar y analizar porque los protagonistas pueden llegar a ser muy irritantes y al mismo tiempo razonables, hace evidente el cómo la necedad o terquedad nos puede aislar o nos impide ceder un poco para lograr algunas cosas, ya que no podemos negar a dar el brazo a torcer hasta con las cosas más simples.

Terminando, podríamos decir que esta película parece más bien una obra de teatro, puesto como mencione solo hay diálogos entre estos los protagonistas, es importante señalar que la crítica está o estuvo un poco dividida en cuanto a este film, pero creo que se debe a que no todos están hechos o preparados para lo que podemos leer o interpretar de estos diálogos, además que como mencione si se tiene un poco de mente crítica y analítica, nos hace reflexionar un poco a nosotros mismos.
