45 years after the first Alien movie

After the arrival in theaters of Alien: Romulus, the films of this saga whose journey began in 1979 and that has already given us 7 films dedicated only to stories related to the aggressive and strange alien, yes, we do not count those in which they decided to confront him against Predator.

Now, in recent days I did a marathon in which I went back to give a pass to all these films, which are available on Disney+ and according to their creation date go as follows

• Alien: The Eighth Passenger (1979)
• Aliens: The Return (1986)
• Alien 3 (1992)
• Alien: Resurrection (1997)
• Prometheus (2012)
• Alien: Covenant (2017)
• Alien: Romulus (2024) to date available only in theaters.

To begin I must say that as we go through the films we see how the ways of presenting the films have changed over the years, before they took the trouble to introduce the actors with voices at the beginning and also announce the name of the film, also, he as the special effects have improved over time, which allows us to appreciate the effort and creativity of those who with the resources available for the time, achieved the team in charge of this section in these science fiction films which is súmante important.

On the other hand, we see how in the first four installments there are several actors that we saw in other films, but the protagonist was always Sigourney Weaver, in what I think was her most significant interpretation, Lieutenant Ellen Ripley, without forgetting that this actress earned money even for shaving her hair in Alien 3, plus years later she participated in films like Ghostbusters and Avatar playing Dr. Grace Augustine.

Now, what may have started 45 years ago as a horror, suspense and science fiction movie, created in time a saga that has 7 movies dedicated only to the character of the Xenomorph, which although it is the antagonist of the films, all of them revolve around how they have been created and during the different installments we see different versions of the species depending on the planet and its host or incubation.

On the other hand, and without a doubt, some of these installments are of the most recent creation until the first one. Some are more appreciated by the public than others, and only some are understandable if we search the internet for information about deleted scenes, as is the case of Prometheus.

In Prometheus, by eliminating scenes what they achieved was to leave us with doubts as to how some events actually happened, such as the contagion of Dr. Charlie Holloway, which only after seeing the deleted scenes makes sense, so many times when editing films and eliminating scenes, the result are gaps that leave the audience confused, especially in the case of films like this, since it is a prequel to the first installments.

So, accordingly, the correct order for the films and after the August arrival of Romulus this year is as follows:

• Prometheus (2012)
• Alien: Covenant (2017)
• Alien (1979)
• Alien: Romulus (2024), clarify that I have not seen it and I can not issue opinions, although so far the reviews point to it as one of the best installments of the saga
• Aliens (1986)
• Alien 3 (1992)
• Alien: Resurrection (1997)

On the other hand, of these new installments, as I said, I have only seen two, being so far my favorite Alien: Covenant, as it walks us with a lot of ways in which the pathogen that was launched to this planet by the synthetic (android) David, which according to himself mutated and originated various forms of action on the living beings of the planet or those who come to it.

But, the best of all this saga for me is the evolution that we can see in the different movies of the xenomorphs, most of which are extremely violent, being the only one that awakens some compassion the one born from the queen's womb in Alien Resurrection, which has human eyes full of tenderness and considers Ripley his mother.

I can not fail to mention the installments in which alien faces Predator where we see a lot of xenomorphs their intelligence and how a version of xenomorph arises here that using a Predator as a host acquires characteristics of these aliens who enjoy facing rivals in battle.

To conclude, the Alien saga has become the favorite of many and always shows the Weyland Corporation as a company capable of sacrificing its workers and others, with the sole purpose of obtaining what it wants, showing the darkest side of human beings.

Tras la llegada a los cines de Alien: Romulus, se han avivado las películas de esta saga cuyo viaje comenzó en 1979 y que ya nos ha entregado 7 películas dedicadas solo a historias relacionadas con el agresivo y extraño alienígena, eso sí, no contamos aquellas en las que decidieron enfrentarlo contra Depredador.

Ahora bien, en días pasados hice un maratón en el cual volví a darle una pasada a todas estas películas, las cuales están disponibles en Disney+ y de acuerdo a su fecha de creación van así

Para comenzar debo decir que a medida que se va avanzando en las películas vemos cómo las maneras de presentar las películas han cambiado al pasar de los años, antes se tomaban la molestia de presentar a los actores con voces al comenzar y además anunciar el nombre de la película, también, él como los efectos especiales han mejorado a lo largo del tiempo, lo que nos permite valorar el esfuerzo y creatividad de los que con los recursos disponibles para la época, lograba el equipo encargado de este apartado en estas películas de ciencia ficción el cual es súmante importante.

Por otra parte, vemos como en las primeras cuatro entregas hay varios actores que vimos en otras películas, pero el protagonismo siempre fue para Sigourney Weaver, en la que creo fue su más significativa interpretación, la teniente Ellen Ripley, sin olvidar que esta actriz gano dinero hasta por raparse el cabello en Alien 3, además de que años después participó en películas como los Cazafantasmas y Avatar interpretando a Dra. Grace Augustine

Ahora bien, lo que tal vez comenzó hace 45 años como una película más de terror suspenso y ciencia ficción, creo en el tiempo una saga que tiene en su haber 7 películas dedicas solo a ese personaje de Xenomorfo, que si bien es el antagonista de las películas, todos ellas giran en torno a cómo han sido creados y durante las diferentes entregas vemos diferentes versiones de la especie dependiendo del planeta y de su huésped o incubación.

Por otro lado, y sin duda alguna, algunas de estas entregas sean de las de más reciente creación hasta la primera. Unas son más valoradas por el público que otras, y solo algunas son comprensibles si buscamos en internet información sobre escenas eliminadas, como es el caso de Prometheus.

En Prometheus, al eliminar escenas lo que lograron fue dejarnos con dudas de que como en realidad ocurrieron algunos hechos, como por ejemplo el contagio del Dr. Charlie Holloway, lo cual solo tras ver las escenas eliminadas tiene sentido, por lo que muchas veces al editar las películas y eliminar escenas, el resultado son vacíos que dejan a la audiencia confundida, sobre todo en el caso de películas como esta, ya que es una precuela de las primeras entregas.

Así, de acuerdo con esto, el orden correcto para las películas y tras la llegada en agosto de este año de Romulus es el siguiente:

• Prometheus (2012)
• Alien: Covenant (2017)
• Alien (1979)
• Alien: Romulus (2024), aclaró que no la he visto y no puedo emitir opiniones, aunque hasta ahora las críticas la señalan como una de las mejores entregas de la saga
• Aliens (1986)
• Alien 3 (1992)
• Alien: Resurrección (1997)

Por otra parte, de estas nuevas entregas, como señalé, solo he visto dos, siendo hasta ahora mi favorita Alien: Covenant, ya que nos pasea con una gran cantidad de formas en las que el patógeno que fue lanzado a este planeta por el sintético (androide) David, el cual de acuerdo a él mismo muto y originó diversas formas de acción sobre los seres vivos del planeta o de aquellos que llegaran a el.

Pero, lo mejor de toda esta saga para mí es la evolución que podemos ver en las diferentes películas de los xenomorfos los cuales en su mayoría son extremadamente violentos, siendo el único que despierta algo de compasión el que nace de la matriz de la reina en Alien resurrección, el cual posee ojos de humanos llenos de ternura y que considera de Ripley su madre.

No puedo dejar de mencionar las entregas en la que alien se enfrenta a Depredador donde vemos una gran cantidad de xenomorfos su inteligencia y como surge aquí una versión de xenomorfo que al usar como huésped a un Depredador adquiere características de estos alienígenas que disfrutan enfrentarse a rivales en batalla.

Para terminar, la saga de Alien se ha convertido en la favorita de muchos y muestra siempre a la corporación Weyland como una compañía capaz de sacrificar a sus trabajadores y otros, con el solo propósito de obtener lo que desea, mostrando el lado más oscuro de los seres humanos.
