1984 to 2024 “The Ghostbusters”/ The Tour

In 1984 the first “Ghostbusters” movie was released, a comedy with a dose of science fiction, and in 1989 a second movie was released, for those who lived through this time we know that it originated a kind of cult, flannels came out and children came to dress up as these characters.

So successful and remembered are these two films that in 2016 a new version was made, but this time the ones hunting ghosts were women, this version was titled “Ghostbusters” and starred Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, also participating in the film Chris Hemsworth who plays the role of a very handsome man, but distracted, clumsy and unintelligent, this version has some scenes that made me laugh a lot.

Now, three years ago (2021) a new version or sequel titled “Ghostbusters: The Legacy” this time they decided to do something a little more familiar linked to the first two movies, as the movie focuses on the family of Egon Spengler, founder of the Ghostbusters, his daughter Callie, and his two children, Trevor and Phoebe, when they become homeless when they are evicted they are forced to move to the farm where their father lived in Oklahoma, there it turns out that everyone saw Egon as a madman. So knowing where they live they are seen as weirdos, but their granddaughter, Phoebe, who bears an extraordinary resemblance to her grandfather, not only in looks, but also in intelligence discovers that her grandfather still inhabits the house as a ghost and the reasons that led him to move there and that even though even his fellow ghost hunters considered him haunted, he was right.

I liked the movie, because it has a plot that includes family reconciliation, understanding and tolerance, for example Egon's daughter discovers that her father did love her and to protect her and the world, he retired to that farm, without forgetting a scene where he reappears in a heroic and emotional way, which for me was a nice posthumous tribute to the departure of the actor who played him.

Now, this year a new version of the Ghostbusters was released, who now live in New York in the fire station that was once the headquarters of the Ghostbusters. They are the replacement generation and Dr. Winston Zeddemore one of the former ghostbusters has been supporting them.

This time the plot focuses on Egon's family, Callie Spengler, her boyfriend Gary Grooberson and her children Trevor and Phoebe, now support the ex-ghostbusters, but everything gets complicated when they get their hands on a mysterious orb that seems to contain a very strong entity, so the family, the ex-ghostbusters and other characters, seen in previous films plus some new ones, are forced to get down to work to save not only New York, but the whole world.

In these latest films we get to see again a character we all love, the marshmallow man, but in a new version that you will surely love, as he is as cute as he is macabre.

In the cast of these last two sequels we can see Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Finn Wolfhard, Celeste O'Connor, Mckenna Grace, Logan Kim, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, William Atherton, Kumail Nanjiani, among others.

Finally, all these new sequels have shown in one way or another, how these first films are still remembered and that they can be revived by sequels adapted to the new times.

En 1984 se estrenó la primera película de “Los cazafantasmas” comedia con una dosis de ciencia ficción, gusto tanto que en el 1989 se estrenó una segunda película, para los que vivimos esta época sabemos que origino una especie de culto salieron franelas y los niños llegaron a disfrazarse de estos personajes.

Tan exitosa y recordada son estas dos películas que en 2016 se realizó una nueva versión, pero en esa oportunidad las que cazaban fantasmas era mujeres, esta versión fue titulada a secas “Cazafantasmas” y fue protagonizada Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, también participa en la película Chris Hemsworth quien hace el papel de un hombre guapísimo, pero distraído, torpe y poco inteligente, esta versión tiene algunas escenas que me hicieron reír mucho.

Ahora bien, hace tres años (2021) se llevó a la gran pantalla una nueva versión o secuela titulada “Ghostbusters: el legado” esta vez decidieron hacer algo un poco más familiar ligado a las primeras dos películas, ya que la película se centra en la familia de Egon Spengler, fundador de los Cazafantasmas, su hija Callie, y sus dos hijos, Trevor y Phoebe, al quedarse sin hogar al ser desalojados se ven obligados a mudarse a la granja en la que vivía su padre en Oklahoma, allí resulta que todos veían a Egon como un loco.Por lo que el saber dónde viven son vistos como bichos raros, pero su nieta, Phoebe, quien tiene un extraordinario parecido con su abuelo, no solo en aspecto, también por su inteligencia descubre que su abuelo todavía habita la casa como un fantasma y las razones que lo llevaron a mudarse allí y que aun cuando hasta sus compañeros de los cazafantasmas lo consideraron obsesionado, él tenía razón.

La película fue de mi agrado, porque tiene una trama que incluye la reconciliación familiar, la compresión y tolerancia, por ejemplo la hija Egon descubre que su padre si la amaba y por protegerla a ella y al mundo, fue que se retiró a esa granja, sin olvidar una escena donde reaparece de manera heroica e emotiva, lo que para mí fue un bonito homenaje póstumo ante la partida del actor que lo interpretaba.

Ahora bien, este año se estrenó una nueva versión de los Cazafantasmas, quienes ahora viven en Nueva York en la estación de bomberos que fuera alguna vez la sede de los cazafantasmas. Son la generación de relevo y el Dr. Winston Zeddemore uno de los ex cazafantasmas les ha apoyado.

Esta vez la trama se centra en que a familia de Egon, Callie Spengler, su novio Gary Grooberson y sus hijos Trevor y Phoebe, ahora apoyan a los ex cazafantasmas, pero todo se complica cuando a sus manos llega un misterioso orbe que parece contener a una entidad muy fuerte, así que la familia, los ex cazafantaasmas y otros personajes, vistos en anteriores películas más algunos nuevos, se ven obligados a poner manos a la obra para salvar no solo a Nueva York, al mundo entero.

En estas últimas películas podemos volver a ver un personaje que todos amamos, el hombre malvavisco, pero en una nueva versión que seguramente amaran, pues tan ton tierno como algo macabro.

Para finalizar, todas estas nuevas secuelas han dejado ver de una manera o de otra, como estas primeras películas todavía son recordadas y que pueden resurgir mediante secuelas adaptadas a los nuevos tiempos.
